In our last step, we learned that turning editing on is the first step needed to edit, move or add materials to your course. But what about changing settings that affect the course itself?
These types of changes include: adding additional weeks to your course to account for breaks, switching from week format to topic format and making your course available to students.
Because the above examples are not resources, activities or blocks (content), you need to make these changes in a different manner.
To change course settings, simply click the “edit settings” link in the Administration block, located in the left hand column of the course.
The resulting page is where you can make changes to course settings. When changing course settings, it is important to know that there are only three things that you would need to modify:
- Course Availability (Hide vs. Show)
- Course Format (weeks vs. topics)
- Number of sections
**NEVER modify anything else, especially course names, categories and ID numbers as this will certainly create issues with your course and lead to major problems with access.**
