How To Backup Your Moodle Grades

Backing up your Moodle grades is good practice, and can save you lots of work should something happen in Moodle that causes a loss of data.

You can regularly export your grades from Moodle with a few simple clicks.  Because these files contain sensitive student data, it is recommended that you save these grade files to your M: drive since that location is secure.

To export your Moodle grade book, do the following:

Click “grades” from the Administration Block.

At the next page, make any appropriate selections (defaults suffice for simply harnessing grades) and then click “submit” at the bottom.

The resulting page provides you with a “download” button to capture the file.  Click this and save the file to your secure M: drive.
