Students, Faculty and Staff:

Existing Setup

If you previously connected to the VTCStudents or VTCWireless networks and can no longer connect, you will first need to remove the existing network profile. If you are setting up the connection for the first time, please jump to the New Setup section.

  • Click the Start menu
  • In the search box at the bottom, type: wireless
  • In the search results, select Manage wireless networks

  • Click on the VTCStudents or VTCWireless network in the list
  • Click the Remove button on the tool bar

  • Click the Yes button to remove the network

  • Proceed to the New Setup instructions below.


New Setup

  • Click on the Start menu
  • In the search box at the bottom, type:  wireless
  • In the search results, select Set up a connection or network

  • Select Manually connect to a wireless network and click Next

  • Enter the network name:
    • Students:  VTCStudents
    • Faculty/Staff: VTCWireless
  • Security type: WPA2-Enterprise
  • Encryption type: AES
  • Click Next

  • Click Change connection settings

  • Click the Security tab
  • Click the Settings button

  • Uncheck Validate server certificate
  • Click the Configure… button

  • Uncheck Automatically use my Windows logon name and password (and domain if any)  and click OK

  • Click the OK button again to return to the Network Properties window
  • Click the Advanced settings button

  • Check Specify authentication mode
  • From the drop-down menu, select User authentication
  • Click the Save credentials button

  • Enter your Vermont Tech username with VTC\ in front of it and then enter your password
  • Click the OK button

  • Click on the wireless icon in your taskbar
  • Select the network you just added and click the Connect button
